Granby Primary School

Training and Work Experience

Granby Primary School is a founder member of Leicester and Leicestershire's 'School Centred Initial Teacher Training' Partnership (SCITT). This means that trainee teachers work in Granby alongside our staff to complete their teaching qualifications. We believe that being involved in initial teacher training develops us as reflective practitioners and allows the trainees to benefit from a diverse range of experiences. We believe that bringing children into contact with trainee teachers, who often have new and innovative ideas, enhances children's learning. So it's a win win win situation for pupils, staff and trainees!

From time to time, we offer work experience placements to young people and adults who think they may be interested in working in schools. Often we have post 16 students who were actually here at primary school with us! Work experience students are not checked through the Disqualification and Barring Service (DBS) and do not have unsupervised access to children.
