Granby Primary School

Ready, Respectful, Safe

Aims, Values & Ethos

Granby's vision, aims, values, ethos and culture were developed in partnership with our pupils, their families, staff and governors. A summary of each of these can be found below.

Our vision for Granby is that all pupils will be:

Active learners

Brave enough to try

and believe

You can!

At Granby, we aim to:

  • support the development of every child intellectually, physically, socially, morally, spiritually and culturally
  • offer a creative curriculum which addresses children's specific learning needs
  • provide a safe and caring environment, nurturing children individually and as part of the whole school and wider community
  • promote good manners and positive behaviour through teaching and by example

Our Granby values are:

  • confidence
  • co-operation
  • enjoyment
  • friendship
  • fairness
  • truth
  • respect

Granby is a school where we:

  • instill a love of learning
  • embrace the whole community
  • strive for continual improvement
  • offer children and families a range of experiences
  • work together collaboratively
  • take care of one another's wellbeing
  • encourage everyone to have a say
  • aspire to great things for everyone

At Granby, we promote a growth mindset culture, based on the work of teacher and psychologist, Carol Dweck. She says: "Growth mindset is where pupils understand that their talents and abilities can be developed through effort, good teaching and persistence ... they believe everyone can get smarter if they work at it." This is summarised in our school vision that every child will believe "You can!"
