Granby Primary School

Ready, Respectful, Safe

British Values

In accordance with Section 78 of the Education Act [2002], we actively promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of our pupils at Granby in order that they leave school prepared for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life in modern Britain.

In teaching pupils about British Values, they are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is 'right' and 'wrong', all people living in Britain are subject to its laws.

The five key British Values taught at Granby are:

  • democracy
  • the rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect
  • tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
